Vesuvius spectacular…
You gotta hand it to Steve Wynn… urban visionary, real estate baron, hotelier extraordinaire. Who else would have had the vision and insight to know that the one thing Las Vegas lacked was an erupting volcano? It’s a spectacle, to be sure… once an hour, the perimeter of the famed Bellagio is turned into an exotic, primordial island … complete with flaming heat waves that rise up out of the faux lagoon in perfect timing to with the beat of booming, primitive drumbeats. For a few moments, the crowd is rapt, entranced. Afterward… they dissipate…back to the tour bus, or more likely….inside for more drinks, slots, in hopes for the big payoff.
